Route description: Starting at sea level near the village of Ravenglass tracing a route past Wast Water, England’s deepest lake, you will be running through Wasdale, holder of the title of “Britain’s Favourite view”. Good paths lead up, up, up as you attain the summit of Scafell Pike, if the weather is kind you’ll see the full expanse of your route across Morecambe Bay from the day before. From here you’re heading south easterly as the ups and downs continue on your way back to base. This is definitely a route to stop you staring at your shoes, the views are ever changing and always stunning. When combined with day 1, these 2 days of superb running show off the very best of the Lake District.
Cut offs: There will always be cut off times in place in order to effectively and safely manage an event of this type. Exact timings and distances will be confirmed as the detail of the route is confirmed but as in all Rat Race events, they will be generous and look to allow the greatest number of people the opportunity to complete the day. If you can maintain a 3.5mph average pace then the event will be achievable for you.
Pit Stops: Due to the remote terrain there will only be 2 Pit Stops at approx. 10 and 20 miles.

You can be dropped off but there is nowhere to park supporting cars at the start on day 2. Not utilising the bus transfer service does not change the price of entry. Will assume that all participants are on the buses should we need to make any last minute contingency plans.
